Dua and supplications for parents

Duas and Supplications for Parents According to Islam

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

All praises are for Allah SWT, the Most Compassionate, the Most Forgiving.

Salutations and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad SAW, his family, and companions.

Place of Parents in Islam

Islam is the religion that has given parents a very higher place in our lives. It teaches us to pray for them too.

Sometimes we don’t value our parents as they must be and we take them for granted, thinking that they will always be here to love and comfort us.

We don’t realize that one day they won’t be with us.

Islam teaches us to spend time with them, look after them as they looked after us in our childhood.

It also teaches us to make Duas and supplications for parents. Allah teaches us Duas and supplications for Parents in the Holy Quran as well as in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

We enjoined the human being to be good to his parents. In pain did his mother bear him and in pain did she give birth to him.
— Quran 46:15

Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to your parents. If either of them or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them a word of disrespect, nor scold them, but say to them kind words. And lower to them the wing of humility, out of mercy, and say, ‘My Lord, have mercy on them, as they raised me when I was a child.’ Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts. If you are righteous, then He is Most-Forgiving for those who turn to Him in repentance.
— Quran 17:23–25

Quranic Duas and Supplications for Parents

Dua (supplication) literally meaning “invocation”, is an act of supplication. The term is derived from an Arabic word meaning to ‘call out’ or to ‘summon’, and Muslims regard this as a profound act of worship.

If your parents are alive, then it’s their right on you that you should be dutiful and thankful to them. It’s your duty to pray for them too.

Allah has taught us many duas and supplications for parents in the holy Quran. You should add these duas in your daily prayers and pray for your parents daily.
