Here I will discuss keyword research and types of keywords in detail.

What are Keywords?

Keywords are simply the words or phrases you type into a search engine.

For example, if someone is searching for “men shirts” or “online shirts for men”, these are called the keywords or key phrases.

Keyword research is an important factor for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of any website. Here is some more detail about Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

So typing something into Google or any other search engine are keywords.

Why You Need Keywords?

If you want to get traffic from a search engine to your website, you need to know what your potential visitors are searching for. That’s why you need to do keyword research.

There are three different types of keywords.

  1. Short-tail keywords
  2. Mid-tail keywords
  3. Long-tail keywords

You need to know each type in detail so that you can make the right decision regarding which ones you want to add to your campaign.

Short-tail Keywords:

Short-tail keywords contain only one word for the search result. such as “camera” “mobile” or “recipes” etc.

The competition of a short tail keyword is higher. It is very difficult to rank top on the search engine by using these Short-tail keywords.

Mid-tail Keywords:

Mid-tail keywords are used to balance between two extremes of short-tail and long-tail keywords.

If a short-tail keyword is “mobile ” and a long tail keyword is “prices of mobiles in Pakistan” then a mid-tail keyword between the two might simply be “mobile prices”. Competition of mid-tail keywords is not as high as short-tail keywords, but they still have some decent search volume.

Long-tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords are more descriptive and detailed than the short tail and mid-tail keywords.

Such as  “fast-food restaurants in Lahore” is more descriptive than only “fast food”.

So long-tail keywords give you the opportunity to rank faster because they are more specific and have lower search volume and competition.

By targeting and optimizing your content around long-tail keywords, you can reach the right audience quickly.

This will improve your SEO and will help you rank for more competitive keywords in the future.
